Davenergy provided retro-commissioning services for six VA Desert Pacific Health Care Network Medical Centers (9,505,000 sf) for the purpose of establishing and altering Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) and related energy-using systems to proper operational capabilities. Services included direct retro-commissioning services at VAMC West LA. For the remaining sites, Davenergy provided program/project management, quality assurance and oversight for the RCx services performed by key subcontractors. Davenergy’s project management included customer interaction and coordination, both with the contracting office and the field sites, as well as the management of Davenergy and subcontractor engineers that contributed to the final deliverable. Identified measures for the six sites, if implemented, are expected to save over 11,000 MWh of energy and $1.6 M every year. The cost of these measures totals $9.4M. A small sample of recommended Corrective Actions and ECMs included optimization of central plant operations, implementation of supply air temperature reset control strategy, repair of steam leaks, implementing economizer control strategy, restoration of BAS control for proper operation of equipment, implementation of unoccupied setbacks for appropriate spaces and elimination of simultaneous heating and cooling.
